Save the Poor Foundation (SAPOF) is a local charitable Malawian non-governmental organization founded on March 10, 2014. At the national level, SAPOF is legally registered with the Government of Malawi under the Trustees Incorporation Act.
SAPOF is inspired by the mission to contribute to improving the lives of vulnerable, marginalized, and impoverished people. This is pursued through improvements in the areas of health, education, advocacy, gender equality and economic empowerment.
The current programs of the Save the Poor Foundation focus on child sponsorships through the provision of school fees and learning materials; the provision of school meals for needy learners in response to hunger and in an effort to keep them in school; the delivery of counseling services for vulnerable and marginalized children; and the promotion of the rights of women and girls against child marriage, harmful cultural practices, and gender-based violence (GBV).
The Likoma Conservation Foundation is a registered non-profit organisation supporting conservation and community development initiatives across Likoma island and orphanage in Lilongwe. Through a sustainable tourism model anchored at Kaya Mawa Lodge, tourism revenue is reinvested directly into community upliftment and environmental restoration.
The organisation's approach is:
Community-led, environmentally sustainable, financially transparent, long-term focused
The Bangwe HIV/AIDS Self-Help Initiative (BAHASI) has been a registered charitable organization for over two decades, dedicated to supporting vulnerable people in Bangwe, Malawi.
Founded in 2004, BAHASI has evolved from an organization focused primarily on HIV/AIDS into a comprehensive support center for orphans, vulnerable children, people living with HIV/AIDS and
the care of older adults.
They are now at a crucial point in their development. Their goal is to improve lives through comprehensive support, education and empowerment initiatives.
To achieve this, they must invest in their infrastructure so that they can expand their impact, enhance their services and realize their vision of a thriving Malawian community in which every vulnerable person becomes a productive and self-reliant citizen.
The name Tandala comes from the word “Nthanda,”
a term in the local Chichewa language meaning “bright morning star.” In reference to their mission to bring hope to those who feel hopeless, they named their organization Tandala, which stands for a group of shining stars. They therefore believe that every orphan and every underprivileged child in their care is one of the bright stars of tomorrow.
Tandala Orphan Care was founded in 2010. In fact, Tandala began with just four children and today supports 40 children, as well as elderly and less privileged people, and newly arriving individuals in need on a daily basis.
